The faculty development program on child psychology, held on
May 26, 2025, was a valuable initiative to enhance educators'
understanding of students' needs. Led by Fr. Joel and Mrs.
Jayashree Rai, M.Phil in Psychology, the session provided
insights into the importance of empathy in education. The
program emphasized the critical role of educators in shaping
students' minds and fostering a growth mindset.
The discussion explored the shifting social expectations around
education and the unique needs of today's tech-native children.
It highlighted the benefits of technology on children's
cognitive development, creativity, and access to information,
while also addressing the difficulties children encounter in the
digital age, including cyberbullying, addiction, and social
comparison. Additionally, the session examined different
parenting styles and their effects on children's emotional
intelligence, self-esteem, and academic performance.
The program concluded with an engaging skit that encouraged
active participation from teachers, promoting student
involvement and enthusiasm. This interactive segment
demonstrated the effectiveness of experiential learning in
teacher training. By participating in this program, educators
gained a deeper understanding of child psychology and the needs
of today's students, and were equipped with strategies to foster
a growth mindset, promote empathy, and support students'
emotional well-being. Overall, the program was a significant
step towards creating a supportive and inclusive learning
environment that caters to the diverse needs of our students.
